Student Retreat at Gatlinburg, TN
August 2006
Charlie Orr was the guest speaker for the annual Student Retreat hosted by First Baptist Church of Whitsett, NC and Pastor Tim Stevens. Charlie spoke to the young people from various passages of Scripture that covered the life of Joseph and dealt with issues such as rejection, forgiveness and temptation. The need to know Christ in a personal relationship was also stressed through the Biblical passage about the rich, young ruler. Several young people accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Pastor Tim reported that there were many other spiritual victories as well.
First Baptist Whitsett continually displays a firm committment to discipling believers and reaching others with the gospel of Christ. FBC has also been a faithful partner with Crosspurpose International ministries since its inception in 2003. Partnering together with a focus on revival and missions has proved to be a blessing to both CI and FBC over the years.

Charlie Orr was recently asked by a somewhat baffled church member who is aware of the diversities and complications of contemporary youth culture, "How do you reach youth today?"
Keeping it simple and to the point, Charlie answered that he merely proclaims Biblical truths with honesty, relevance and empathy to youth no matter what their circumstances. All of life's issues are adequately addressed through the Word of God and spiritual changes are effectively brought about by the Holy Spirit. Times may change, but "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever."
