Without A Doubt
by Ivalee T. Sims

Throughout my young adult years I was plagued by doubts of my salvation.  I grew up in a church where feelings played an important role in determining one’s security.  On one day I would believe I was saved and the next I would be a doubter.  I needed unwavering assurance.

I began to search for answers. I claimed John 3:16 as my own many                                              times, but still, the nagging doubts.  I taught a Sunday school class and many                                      times when I taught, the Adversary would whisper, “Why are you trying to teach                                    about God when you don’t know Him?  How do you know He’s real?  How can                                      you tell you are a Christian? By being good and going to church?  Do you feel                                      like one? Why don’t you just quit trying?”

I kept praying that I would find some word that would extinguish my                                                doubts. One day when I was reading my Bible I came across John 6:37. I had                                      read that verse many times but the words had slipped by without any meaning.                                      This time they seemed to reach out and take hold of my mind. I read the words                                    over again. I began to pray, “Lord, it says here in Your word that the Father gave                                    me to You eons ago, and You promised that I would come to You for salvation.                                      So, Lord, here I am. I come to You believing that You died personally for me and                                     trusting now, that under no circumstances will You ever cast me from You!”

Wonderful assurance of salvation came bubbling into my soul that day and the dark shadows of doubt disappeared from my life.

All that the Father gives me will come to me, and the one that comes to me I will by no means cast out.
